Live your life, not the disorder
Eating disorders in children
Our aim is to ensure that every young person that comes for help at Rhodes Farm, will leave us healthy, content and hopeful for the future.
Rhodes Farm was the first centre in the UK to treat Eating Disorders in children and adolescents. For over 20 years we have been helping young people to overcome all types of Eating Disorders and get their lives back on track. We are one of the only centres in the UK to successfully treat younger children, 6-12 years old, by offering a safe, nurturing, comfortable environment for their recovery. We offer bespoke, acute treatments on an inpatient, outpatient or day basis which can complement or further the work of NHS community services. Read more >
Our treatment plans focus on the patient getting well, and staying well.
We recently got in touch with a large number of our previous patients. 85% of them told us that they were still well, healthy and effectively managing their disorder at least one year on from treatment at Rhodes Farm. We are very proud of all the young people who have gone onto live fulfilled, happy lives after treatment and care at Rhodes Farm.
Multi-skilled team
We believe that in order to effectively treat Eating Disorders in children a positive, supportive approach from a multi-skilled team is required. Each patient will receive a high level of therapeutic input from a range of highly qualified Professionals who have specialised in Eating Disorders. This includes a Lead Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, a family therapist, a key nurse, Educational specialists, carers and support workers.

The role of the family
Family involvement is an extremely important part of the child's recovery. Evidence shows that the higher the parental involvement, the better the chances for a lasting recovery. We offer families intensive counselling which focuses on a number of key areas including gaining a better understanding of their child's eating disorder, to practical advice on how to positively manage mealtimes at that much anticipated but nerve racking time when their child returns home.
